Greenwich. Last night. The finale of our East Coast, South, and Mid-West Freedom Tour, as we get ready for the Wealth Catalyst Summit NYC May 14th.
Nell 3D [Derick Debevoise Dewey] opened by retelling my story back to me. The fifty emails. The silence that answered them. And then she reframed the whole thing:
“The point is subtracting the silence.”
The women in that room did exactly that.
One had spent years running a company for a man who, on a train to the city, told her she was overpaid:
“And that was it. I knew at that point I was out.”
Three kids. She left anyway. Started her own firm. Every hire she’s made has been a woman who needed a way back in.
Another had negotiated equity for the first time, nine months of pushing, watching her stake get diluted while investors came in:
“Do not let that pass. Just do it. Because otherwise they will push you off and push you off. Of course they don’t want you to have as much as you deserve.”
She called what she got a win. It was.
Fourteen markets. The wisdom is always in the room.
