Last night was not about status, financial hierarchy, hype cycle investing, experts teaching or cliques. It was the complete opposite. It was expansive, rooted in self responsibility and the power of peers.
Last night in Santa Monica we stepped away from our fabulous #linkedin profiles to talk about how different we are in our strategies and needs, how our balance sheets do not define our worthiness, the power of having Capital Agency, and we modeled being Wealth Expanders to each other.
I’m grateful for Nasim Afsar, MD MBA MHM , April Uchitel from WE ARE THE BOARD , and Lauren Wood, CFA, CFP® from Laird Norton Wetherby for standing with me and championing a new conversation around money. This is a conversation that happens only because other women believe it is important.
We opened up dialogue on: real estate, venture capital, syndicates, how we evaluate financial advisors, tax strategies, proclaiming our love of having money because of the freedom it gives us, and how many of us have felt doubt and insecurity around financial decisions.
The room last night picked up what I was putting down.
“I think being in rooms like this, where we can share our experiences, we can share our wins, we can ask the questions that sometimes we feel scared to ask, that we can be in a space that’s comfortable is something we need.”
“What I believe is that community is more than ever important. It’s how we move forward in sharing learning, sharing knowledge, sharing networks, sharing inspiration. To me, that is everything.”
